Abstract

Based on the 1∶ 20 000 soil survey of eight hydrothermal elements ( Au,Ag,Cu,Pb,Zn,Mo,As,Bi) in Huzhong area of northern Great Xing'an Range, factors of 978 standardized samples were extracted by principal component analysis. Three principal factors ( Cu - Pb - Zn - Ag; Au - Mo; Bi - As) with eigenvalues

greater than 1 were obtained, but they could not be reasonably interpreted. Three new principal factors ( Ag - Pb -Zn; Cu - Mo - Bi; Au - As) were obtained after factor rotation of maximum variance method, which have more advantages
in geological interpretation. It indicates that there existed a hydrothermal system in study area. From the ore bearing hydrothermal center to the far end, precipitation of high, medium and low temperature elements occurred from south to north in turn. Ore bodies of corresponding elements can be seen by engineering verification. Meanwhile, according to the relationship between factor score and geological body ( spatial distribution map of principal
factor intensity) ,the metallogenic time is defined between the Early Jurassic and Late Jurassic.
