Abstract

Using the SPOT5 in 2011 and GF1 in 2016 satellite images as the main sources of data, the authors investigated the dynamic change of mining occupied land in Luanchuan region of Henan Province, by the combination of computer automatic extraction and man-computer interactive interpretation, and the combination of indoor interpretation and field verification. The comparative analysis shows that 144 mine development polygon features are interpreted from the multidate satellite images, with a total area of 14.74 km2. Tailing pond, stope and dump are the three most important types of polygon features in the study area, accounting for 47.08%, 31.41% and 16.95% of the total area, respectively. From 2011 to 2016, 25 changed polygon features are interpreted from the multidate satellite images, including 19 expanding polygons and 6 new added polygons, with a total area of 2.56 km2. It shows no change in the rehabilitative situation.
