Analysis of sediment provenance and tectonic background of Changzhougou Formation in Xingcheng area

Abstract

Based on the petrological study of rock samples from Changzhougou Formation, the methods of clastic composition analysis and geochemical data analysis are used to explore the sedimentary source characteristics and tectonic background of Changzhougou Formation in Xingcheng area. The results show that the provenance of the Changzhougou Formation in the study area is mainly relatively mature acid rocks, including sedimentary rocks and granites, which experienced moderate to weak weathering. The tectonic background of the provenance area is relatively stable, and the tectonic setting is likely passive continental margin.
