Abstract

The authors use the Landsat and high-resolution satellite remote sensing images to investigate the current situation of rocky desertification in the water source area of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (Henan section). Combined with GIS technology, the results of the three rocky desertification surveys in 1996, 2006 and 2016 are superimposed to obtain the trend of rock desertification in 1996-2006 and 2006-2016. The results show that the ecological geological conditions of the study area are generally good, especially in some areas with serious rocky desertification development, the ecological geological conditions have been subversively im-proved. Based on the results of remote sensing survey and monitoring of rocky desertification in the water source ar-ea of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (Henan section), in combination with evaluating the susceptibili-ty of rocky desertification using the deterministic coefficient method, it is indicated that the evaluation comprehen-sive zoning is basically consistent with the rocky desertification distribution, and the survey method is reliable. The project has been carried out finds out the status of rocky desertification in the study area, and classifies the rocky desertification, reveals the evolution characteristics, and proposes the control measures.
