Abstract

International Continental Scientific Drilling Project (ICDP) in the Songliao Basin, named SK2, has obtained 105.05 m of continuous core of the second member of Denglouku Formation, with core recovery of 99.1%, which is the most continuous and complete sedimentary record of this member. The authors carry out cen-timeter-scale core description (2~5 centimeter per layer) to reveal the lithology, lithofacies and sedimentary se-quences. Nine rock types have been identified in the second member of Denglouku Formation, including abandoned channel and channel sub-facies of braided river facies, which are further divided into three kinds of sedimentary mi-crofacies, i. e., channel siltation, sand bar and mid-channel bar. The youngest age of detrital zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb isotopic dating results of the second member of Denglouku Formation is 102±4 Ma, indicating that the sec-ond member of Denglouku Formation formed in Xujiaweizi fault depression of Songliao Basin belongs to the late Al-bian period.
