Abstract

Soil water inversion with apparent thermal inertia is suitable for areas with low vegetation coverage. The temporal and spatial variations of soil water in Huangshui River basin from 2014 to 2016 were retrieved by using GLDAS data and apparent thermal inertia from MODIS data, and the relationship between soil water and precipitation was compared and analyzed. The results show that the surface soil water in Huangshui River basin fluctuates from 17 mm to 19 mm, and its overall change shows an increasing trend. The surface soil water storage in the southeastern part of the basin is relatively high, while that in the northwestern part is relatively low. Precipitation is the main reason for the periodic change of surface soil water.
