Abstract

In order to solve the problems of large workload, high cost and inconvenience in site selection due to time, region and topography limitation in conventional underground engineering site selection methods, the GIS-based site selection techniques of underground engineering was presented through in-depth analysis of the dependence between underground engineering and geological background. The mathematical mapping model between remote sensing index set and engineering technical index for underground engineering site selection was constructed based on engineering practice and actual test. Taking GIS as an analyzing platform, the location theories of multi-factor cross coupling were used to evaluate the location of underground engineering works, which effectively improved the timeliness and convenience of underground engineering site selection, and saved the initial exploration cost. Preliminary application in a region of western Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has achieved good results.
