Mineral and lithological features of north provenance- depositional system of Jurassic in eastern depression of North Yellow Sea Basin

Abstract��

This paper presents the mineral and lithological features��tectonic setting and direction of the north provenance- depositional system of Jurassic��and the Jurassic strata in the north of eastern depression of North Yellow Sea Basin are as a target strata�� The Jurassic strata are a set of terrigenous clastic rocks mainly with lithic quartz sandstone and lithic sandstone in type�� Studying the sedimentary sequences of eastern depression of North Yellow Sea Basin��the authors identify three kinds of sedimentary environment which contain delta deposit��fan delta deposit and lake deposit�� Based on the fragment composition and content of limestone�� the north provenance- dep- ositional system is defined as a weathered provenance added by volcanic materials��the provenance is the recycled orogeny and the depositional system is the fan delta system of a direction from north to south�� Studying the micro-scopic and particle characteristics of samples��the authors identify four microfacies in this area including distal- bar�� mouth bar��underwater channel and gravity underwater channel of fan delta front subfacies��
