Abstract

Tonghua Basinas a fault basin overlying the pre-Mesozoic basementexperienced the Hercynian movement in the Late Paleozoic and Yanshan movement in the late Middle Jurassichas been a explorated in lower degree Research of the petroleum geological conditions indicates that during the basin evolutionthe Yingzuilizi- Xiahuapidianzi-and Hengtongshan Formationsformed in the sedimentary stages after Early Cretaceous volcanism are the main hydrocarbon source rocks in the Tonghua Basin The Sankeyushu Depression and Sanyuanpu Depression are better in source rock conditionin which the source-reservoir-cap rock assemblage was foundand can be regarded as the key area for further exporation By utilizing pyrolysis methodit is calculated that in the favorable distribution of source rocks in the Tonghua Basinthe quantity of hydrocarbon generation is 3. 87 × 108 t and the quantity of resource is 0. 302 × 108 twhich shows a good petroleum potential
