Abstract

Through geological explorationtypical profile measuringsampling and experimental analysiswe confirmed the Upper Permian Linxi Formation as the main horizon containing dark mudstone in Northeast Inner Mongolia Research of organic petrology and organic geochemistry reveals that the TOC value of the dark mudstone is 0. 45% 3. 55%; averaging 1. 09%; its organic matter type is II1 II2 in category; vitrinite reflectance of 82% samples is ranging in 2% 4%and it falls into high to over-mature evolution stage With the high organic abundance large thickness and the wide distributionthe Linxi Formation in Northeast Inner Mongolia is potential in hydrocarbon source rockswith high potential of gas generating
