Abstract

Through detailed study of five key oil-sand basins and a preliminary study of the metallogenic condition of sixteen oil-sand basinsthe authors summarized the enrichment characteristics of global oil-sand resources metallogenic controlling factors and metallogenic models The global oil-sand resources were concentrated in three metallogenic structural beltsfour metallogenic tectonic districtssix metallogenic basins and the basins with two types in metallogeny The concentrations were much higher than those of conventional oil and gas The oil-sand resource concentration was as a result of the comprehensive action of high-quality source rocksmulticycle evolution oxidizing environment and hydrocarbon degradation mechanism The metallogenic model can be divided into the types of slope degradationpaleo-reservoir damagetectonic uplift and fault dispersalbased on basin typetectonic evolution and setting
