 Spatial data representation of lunar surface based on hexagon discrete grid model

Abstract

 Considering the lack of research on lunar surface spatial data representation in spherical discrete grid models, the authors designed a regular icosahedron hexagonal lunar discrete grid model suitable for the lunar, based on an in?depth study of the characteristics of regular polyhedron discrete grid models. The entire model is di? vided using the lunar radius of 1 737. 1 km, and a comparative analysis of grid models with basic division unit hex? agons with apertures of 3 and 4 is conducted, to determine the hexagon with an aperture of 4. The test area is divid? ed, and the discrete grid of level 14 can clearly express the 100 m resolution morphological image data of the lunar.
