Geochemical characteristics and risk assessment of heavy metals elements in Weisha River,JilinCit

Abstract

InordertostudythegeochemicalcharacteristicsofheavymetalsinWeishaRiver,JilinCityand evaluatethehealthriskoftheriver,thepollutioncharacteristicsofCu,Pb,Zn,Cd,AsandHginWeishaRiver wereevaluatedbythesinglefactorpollutionindexmethod,andthetotalpollutionsituationofwaterqualitywas evaluatedbytheheavymetalpollutionindexmethod(HPI).Finally,thehumanhealthriskassessmentmodelwas usedtoevaluatethehealthriskcausedbydrinkingwaterinthestudyarea.TheresultsshowthattheoverallpollutiondegreeofWeishaRiverisrelativelylight,andPbandHginindividualsamplesarelightpollution.Theevaluationresultsshowthatfoursamplepointsarepolluted,andthepollutedpointsaregreatlyaffectedbytailings.The percapitaannualhealthriskcausedbycarcinogenicelementsAsandCdthroughdrinkingwaterisCd>As,and thehealthriskvalueofchildrenisabout3~4timesthatofadults,whichismorevulnerabletopollution.Therisk causedbynoncarcinogenicelementsCu,Pb,ZnandHgisfarlowerthantherecommendedvalue,buttherisk valueofPbhasexceededthenegligiblerisklevel.Thetotalannualhealthriskpercapitaishigherthanthemaxi mumacceptablerisklevelrecommendedbySweden,NetherlandsandUK
