Abstract

Thetimefrequencyandtimeseriesanalysiswereusedforthecycledivisionoftheoriginallossof ignition(LOI)dataobtainedfromtheEocenecontinoussedimentswithintheYilanBasin,NEChina.Thedynamic characteristicsoftheorganicandcarbonatecontentsindicatedbytheseLOIdatawerethenanalyzedusingthePearsoncorrelationanalysis,noisereductionfilteringandstatisticalmethods.Sixclimatetypeswereidentified:humid andhot,semihumidandhot,semidryandhot,drycold,semidryandcold,andsemihumidandcold.Asfor thetemperatureandhumiditychangesduringthemidlongtermclimatecycle,bothfactorsfirstlyincreasedtothe highestoftheentireEoceneattheendoftheEarlyEocene,thengraduallydecreasedtothelowestintheearlyof theLateEocene,andlaterlyreboundedanddecreasedslightly.Duringtheshorttermclimatecycleofthetemperatureandhumiditytransition,theauthorsfoundthetemperatureremainedunchangedwhilethehumiditydecreased continuallyduringthechangesfromanearlysynchronousequilibriumstatetoanadjacentlatestate.Thisisanimportantmarktofindwhethertheclimateisabouttoturncold.Thecomparisonswithotherresearchesshowthat,the midlongtermtemperaturechangesintheEoceneofYilanBasinwereconsistentwithotherregionsinNortheastChina,butlaggedbehindthetemperaturechangesrevealedbythedeepseaisotopes
