Geochronology and geochemical characteristics of volcanic rocks of Manketou-ebo Formation in Gaodi forest farm,northern GreatXing‘an Range,and their tectonic implications

Abstract

LA-ICP-MSzirconU-Pbdatingandwholerockgeochemistrywereconductedforthevolcanic rocksofManketoueboFormationintheGaodiforestfarmarea,northernGreatXinganRange,withtheaimsof constrainingtheirpetrogenesisandtectonicsetting.Thedatingresultsshowthattheeruptiveageofthevolcanic rockis(149±1)Ma,ie.LateJurassic.Intermsofgeochemicalcharacteristics,thestudiedsamplesarecharacterizedbyhighsilicon,richalkali,poorcalcium,andpoormagnesium,belongingtohighpotassiumcalcalkaline weakperaluminousrocks.Theyhavetotalrareearthelement(ΣREE)contentsof12432×10-6~18941×10-6 andLREE/HREEratiosof872~1635,indicatingasignificantfractionationbetweenLREEandHREE.Their magmasoriginatedfromthepartialmeltingofshallowcrustalmaterials.Combinedwithregionalgeologicalbackground,theauthorsproposethatthevolcanicrocksoftheManketoueboFormationwereformedinthepostorogenic extensionalsettingaftertheclosureofMongolia-OkhotskOcean.
