Abstract:

The authors discussed the Mesozoic distribution characteristics and hydrocarbon exploration direction in western depression zone of East China Sea shelf basinThe results indicate thatthe Mesozoic strata are widely distributed with great thickness(>6 000 m in max)and mainly developed in southern areaThe Cretaceous sediments are distributed in Changjiang sagHaijiao lower upliftOujiang sagMinjiang sag and Taibei lower upliftand the Jurassic sediments are mainly distributed in Minjiang sagMinjiang sag has great thickness in Mesozoic with good source rocks and develops local structural trapwhich has both regional and local seals with superior source-reservior-seal conditionThereforethe Minjiang sag is the most in exploration prospect area in western depression zone of East China Sea shelf basin
