According to the application of TerraSAR image ( 3 m resolution) in 1��50 000 scale regional geological survey of Panzhihua area��Sichuan��the author proposed a regional geological mapping method on using image textures-structure image unit��based on TerraSAR�� It introduced the interpretation division of TerraSAR image�� the creation of method on interpretation signs��the division of geological image unit��and the method for interpretation of sedimentary--magmatic--and metamorphic rocks and structure�� According to the studied results��the author suggested that the TerraSAR images would not be as the first choice in regional geological mapping��
