Abstract:

The study of Cenozoic detrial zircon fission track age in Qaidam Basin suggests that the sedimentary exhumation-provenance is the peripheric mountains of the basin which had undergone Hercynian-Indochina event, but Yanshan movement only rep resented in Altyn Tagh Mt. The facts reveal that multip le thermo - tectonic events had taken place in the provenance, for five times ( 284.5 Ma, 263.6 Ma, 243.6 Ma, 221.6 Ma and 199.8Ma) in the north margin of the basin and for six times ( 344.2 Ma, 275.2 Ma, 244.9 - 246.8 Ma, 210 - 220.3 Ma, 186.9 - 195.7 Ma and 162.9 Ma) in the west of the basin, which indicates the north part of Tibet plateau characterized by multi-stage and synchronous uplifting before Cenozoic, and tectonic activities in Qaidam Basin and its periphery experienced strong-quiescent-strong stages in Cenozoic.
